Clinical Decision Support Systems for Infection Prevention and Control: A Survey of Adoption, Maturity, and Barriers to Implementation

Scientific Abstract

Among 50 responding healthcare facilities, 84% reported using clinical decision support for infection prevention and control, but automation varied widely and was concentrated primarily at the front end of IPC workflows. Facilities with greater automation were more likely to report reduced infection preventionist workload and cognitive burden, while personnel, EHR integration, and financial constraints remained important barriers.
